Robert J. Madaj, age 82, died Friday, March 20, 2020 at McLaren-Bay Region. He was born on April 12, 1937 to the late Eugene and Tillie (Smaglinski) Madaj in Bay City. Robert graduated from Bay City Central High School, Class of 1955 and attended Bay City Junior College. He was a member of All Saints Parish (St. James Church), Knights of Columbus Council #4102 and the Bay City Yacht Club. Robert retired from General Motors Corporation after 33 years of service in 1998. He enjoyed flowers, plants, gardening, bowling, golfing, taking photos and printing them. Most of all loving and spoiling his grandchildren and relaxing on the deck swing with the love of his life, Donna. On August 3, 1957, Robert married Donna Marie Wajer at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. Donna survives Robert along with their four children: Brenda (Craig) Duso, Cheryl (Terry) Brozewski, Brian (Veronica) Madaj and Chris (Patti) Madaj; 12 grandchildren: James, Kelly, Ashley, Chad, Christopher, Nick, Zach, Haley, Matt, Lexie, Kayla, Maggie, Alina and Oliver; six great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Tillie; brothers: Eugene and William Madaj and granddaughter, Jennifer. Private Services will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at All Saints Parish-St. James Church. Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera will preside with Rite of Committal following at St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Private visitation will be at the Trahan Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
