Marcella Joyce Grosse

Marcella Joyce Grosse Hornell Marcella Joyce Grosse, 85, formerly of Crosby Street, passed away Friday (March 20, 2020) at Elderwood At Hornell. Born in Mt. Morris, N.Y., April 12, 1934, the daughter of Craig and Mary Lemmon Shurtleff, she had resided in Hornell since 1988. Marcella was a graduate of Mt. Morris High School. Received her associates degree from Monroe Community College, and her bachelor’s degree from the Empire State College. She was employed at the New York State Developmental Disabilities Service Office in Bath prior to her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Hornell where she served many offices in the church including Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, member of the Church Choir for several years. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Hornell Area Arts Council , and the Hornell YMCA. Her hobbies included reading, traveling and gardening, but the love of her life was her children. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother; Ronald Shurtleff She is survived by her daughters; Valarie (Ron) Werner of Warsaw, and Julie (Magnus) Graham of Virginia, her sons; Curt (Connie) Grosse of Colorado, Norman (Elizabeth) Grosse of Alfred Station, Grover (Lisa) Grosse of Nunda and Chris (Beverly) Grosse of Hunt, her brother Al (Sue) Shurtleff, 11 Grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
