Richard D. Baltz, M.D.

Richard D. Baltz, M.D., 83, of Camp Hill, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 in Vibra Care Rehabilitation Hospital, Mechanicsburg. He was a retired pediatrician and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Dr. Baltz served his internship and residency at Harrisburg Hospital and then attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Air Force serving at the U.S. Air Force Hospital in Dover, DE. He retired from the Pediatric practice of Baltz & Fromme Pediatric Associates, Camp Hill and then Pinnacle Health Children’s Health Clinic. In addition, he was published by the American Cancer Society and the Journal of Nuclear Medicine. He served the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for his Fellowship; served as Director of Pediatrics at Polyclinic Medical Center; Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Hershey Medical Center; consultant to the West Shore School District Nurse Practitioner Program; PA DPW Bureau of Quality Review; KePRO Review Consultant in Pediatrics; Medical Director of Utilization Review for Harrisburg Hospital; was a delegate to the American Medical Association; was past Secretary Treasurer of the Dauphin County Medical Society; was a member of the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Fluoridation Coalition and the American Academy of Pediatrics where he served on the committee on Quality Improvement. He was past president of the Harrisburg Hospital Medical Staff, president of the Dauphin County Medical Society, and served on the School Health Committee of PA Pediatrics. Additionally, he co-chaired the PA BAR Assn. / PA Medical Society Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect with Dauphin County District Attorney John Cherry. Dr. Baltz was a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics; PA Chapter of the American Association of Pediatricians; Lowther Manor Lodge #781, F&AM, Marysville; Harrisburg Consistory, AASR; and Zembo Shrine, AAONMS, Harrisburg. Dr. Baltz was born in Philadelphia to the late David and Florence (Yost) Baltz. He is survived by his wife of more than 58 years, Alice (Turner) Baltz; a son Richard E. Baltz and wife Janice of Burke, VA; a daughter Karen B. Anderson and husband Dean of Camp Hill; five grandchildren, Matthew R. Baltz, Timothy M. Baltz, Allison M. Baltz, Erik R. Anderson and Grant R. Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 5:30 – 7 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with a Masonic service beginning at 7 pm. A private inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
