Memorial services for Zachariah R. Hoerner, 34, of Redfield, SD, will be 5:00 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street, Aberdeen. Pastor Chris Anderson will officiate. Zachariah died Sunday, December 11, at his home in Redfield. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials. Zachariah R. Hoerner was born on June 13, 1982, to Patrick Hoerner and Joanne (Reed) Weeg at Dakota Midland Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. As a child, Zachariah was always happy and free spirited. While in elementary school, he was very outgoing and played baseball and some football. At the age of 16 Zachariah was diagnosed with diabetes. As he grew, he continued to be outgoing. He played tennis and golf in middle school, for the Boys and Girls Club, and Aberdeen Central High School. He could also be found playing basketball with friends. Zachariah graduated in 2001 from Aberdeen Central High School. After graduation, Zachariah attended Northern State University in Aberdeen and South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD studying history and business in the hopes to become a teacher. After he realized teaching wasn’t for him, he worked in retail. He was the manager at Cherry Berry in Aberdeen and later at Dairy Queen in Redfield until the time of his death. Zachariah will be remembered by his family as a “personable person.” Throughout his life he continued to be outgoing, happy and free spirited. Family was very important to him. He had a special bond with his brothers: Adam and Derrick, nieces: Alex and Piper, and cousins. Grateful for having shared Zachariah’s life are his father, Patrick (Annie) Hoerner, Aberdeen; mother, Joanne (Brad) Weeg, Goodwin, SD; brothers: Adam Hoerner, 31, and Derrick Weeg, 23, Watertown, SD; nieces: Alex and Piper; grandparents, Ray and Barb Hoerner, Aberdeen; aunts and uncles and many cousins.
