Laura "Elsie" Jane (Adair) Usherwood, 111, of Hannibal, Missouri, went to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ at 3:49 AM Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Luther Manor Nursing Home in Hannibal, MO. Due to the restrictions for public gathering caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, the funeral services for Laura are private. The family wishes to thank all of their friends and family for their love and support at this time. Please feel free to send a card or note to the family directly or through the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal, Missouri. Brother Jeff Anderson will officiate. The Family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Elsie was born May 5, 1908, in Ralls County, MO to David J. Taylor and Clara P. (Long) Taylor. She was first married to William “Bob” R. Adair on September 25, 1927, and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1966. She later married James H. Usherwood on July 17, 1971, and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1990. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Betty Adair, 1 granddaughter, Penny Strube (Lynn), 2 great grandchildren, Carrianne Harrison and Dr. Levi Strube (Grace), 6 great, great grandchildren, Karsten Harrison, Porter Harrison, Penny Harrison, Jesse Strube, Joni Strube, Jenny Beth Strube, and nieces and nephews. Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Jesse Adair, 1 sister, 6 brothers, 1 step-son, 1 great, great grandson, and nieces and nephews. Elsie retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital as a nurse's assistant. Elsie collected and restored dolls. She loved her family. She had weekly family gatherings at her home for dinner, dessert and games. Elsie read her Bible daily and was a member of Bethany Sunday School Class. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon's International.
