Glen Allen MacDonald Timmins, Ontario Obituary

Glen Allen MacDonald

MACDONALD, GLEN ALLEN 1945-2020 After a brave battle with cancer, Glen Allen MacDonald passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 13th, 2020 at the Timmins and District Hospital Hospice. He is survived by his spouse Denise Brunet, his daughters Leila MacDonald (Nico Poulos) and Leena MacDonald; and will fondly be remembered as “no rules” Grandpa to Graeme MacDonald, Grace Poulos and Oliver Poulos and grand-pepère to Nico, Annabel, Zak, Brinley, Kora and Arlo. Predeceased is his wife Eija MacDonald (2003). Glen was born to Gertrude and Gerald MacDonald on May 31st, 1945 in Schumacher, were he lived his whole life. He worked hard and had the good fortunate to give back to his community in countless ways. “Remember where you came from” was one of his mottos he lived by. In his honor, memorial donations may be made to the Schumacher Lions Club, P.O. Box 231, Schumacher, ON P0N 1G0. He was a born storyteller and had a zest for life like no other. He lived his life to the fullest. Really just a kid at heart! He was happiest spending time at the cottage with Denise, his kids and grandkids; whether playing in the water, fishing for pickerel, boating on lake Minisinakwa or flying to his fishing camp at Blair Lake with friends. We will cherish the many times spent together sitting around the camp fire under the stars, goofing around in the lake or laughing at one of his stories. “Mac” had many wonderful friends who have helped us through this difficult journey. Their story telling, laughter and daily visits to the hospital were great therapy. We’ve been surrounded by countless family and friends and this we are truly thankful for. Words can’t express the gratitude we feel towards the doctors, nurses and medical staff at TDH who showed such compassion and provided an excellent level of care to Glen in his final days. A celebration of life will be held at the Schumacher Lions Club on Sunday, May 31st, 2020, at 11 a.m. on what would have been his 75th birthday. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
