Karl E. Salo, 81, of Palm City, Florida, passed away on October 30, 2017 at his home. Born in Highland Park, Illinois, he had been a resident of Palm City for 17 years coming from Palatine, Illinois. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He had attended the School of Mines in Socorro, New Mexico. Before retiring, he was an electrical engineer with Northrop Grumman in Rolling Meadows, Illinois for over 30 years. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Patricia Salo of Palm City; his children, Jennifer Schanna and her husband Anthony of Belvidere, Illinois; Karl Salo of Elgin, Illinois; Shawnn Wakefield of Laquey, Missouri and Todd Wakefield of Port St. Lucie, Florida; his sister, Sandra Salo Deutchman and her husband Phil of Coeur d’alene, Idaho; his grandchildren, Anthony Schanna, Alexander Schanna and Maggie Martin and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, November 6, 2017, at the Forest Hills Funeral Home, Palm City, FL. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 7, 2017in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow immediately in the Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.
