Peter Langer was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1938. He trained as a hairdresser in Germany, and as a young man had hairdressing businesses in Guernsey and New Zealand. He met his wife in New Zealand, and together they immigrated to Canada in the 1960's. After living in Vancouver for several years, they moved to Lumby. He had successful hair dressing salons in Vernon, and was popular with clients and his employees. He later moved to Vancouver Island, where he continued to work as a hairdresser. Peter chose to retire to Port Hardy, as he loved the area. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, camping and cycling. He was active with the church and also the Hardy Bay Senior Citizens' Society. He will be remembered as being a generous person, savvy businessman, good friend and loving father. He will be missed by his son, Dan Langer, daughter, Jennifer Bridle, and his grandchildren, Madoc and Elgan Bridle. The family would like to thank the community of Port Hardy, and all of the people involved in his care.
