Peter Dwight Steffen Obituary

Peter Dwight Steffen, 59, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on November 17, 2016 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on June 17, 1957. Pete graduated from The University of the South Sewanee (Class of 1979) receiving a BA in Economics and Spanish Literature and received his MBA in Finance from the American Graduate School of International Management Thunderbird (Class 1981), Phoenix, AZ. After receiving his degree, Pete went on to begin what would become a 35 year career in finance, the most recent position as a Senior Relationship Manager with Wells Fargo Capital Finance. However, his time spent in the banking industry is only a glimpse of his success. Pete's greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, son, partner, and friend to all. He was a dedicated parent who loved his children unconditionally, had a special place in his heart for all animals, and nurtured his plants as if they were part of the family. His wry sense of humor always made an appearance at just the right moments and he had a habit of making mischief for the sake of laughter. He was gentle and kind, always putting the needs of loved ones before his own. Generous to a fault with everyone around him, he never expected much in return. He is survived by his children, Christopher Michael Steffen and wife, Abbie Gibson Steffen, Emily Ann Steffen, and Andrew Gray Steffen; one grandchild, Helen Suzanne Steffen; and his fiancé, Sheila J. Treacy. He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Alice Gray Steffen and Dwight Albert Steffen. The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 21, 2016 in the Chapel at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Dr., Fort Mill, SC, with visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Ave., Charlotte, NC 28203; or the Council for Children's Rights, 601 E. Trade St., Charlotte, NC 28202 in his memory. If you have any other questions please contact Robertson Funeral Funeral and Cremation Service at 704-752-7710.
