Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Friday, September 28, 2012 at First Christian Church in Garden City with Rev Scott Schurle and Von Hunn officiating. Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Barnes, age 63, died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. He was born January 14, 1949 at Garden City, the son of Eddie & Grace Leora (Koch) Barnes. He married Doyleen M. Knight on January 20, 1968 at Garden City. Ronnie attended Pierceville and Garden City schools and graduated from Ingalls High School in 1968. He worked at the Kansas Department of Transporation and for Mel Krebs before going to work at the Garden City Co-op. He spent 38 years at the Co-op and was a millwright in the elevator department. He enjoyed fishing, golf and doing handyman work around his house. He was an avid sports fan watching his grandchildren and on TV cheering on Tiger Woods. Ronnie was a member of First Christian Church of Garden City. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers- Michael, Eddie Wayne & Lynn & 1 sister- Joquetta Perry. Survivors include his wife, Doyleen M. Barnes of the home; 2 daughters, Paula M. Nowak of Holcomb, Christy L. Allen of Berryville, Arkansas; 1 son, Ronnie Dean Barnes, Jr. of Lubbock, Texas; 1 brother, Bobby D. Barnes of Garden City; 2 sisters, Wanda Holmes of Garden City, Vivian Van Vleet of Shawnee; 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
