Honorable Donald E. Belfi, 84 years old, of Rockville Centre, passed away surrounded by his family on February 26, in Stuart, Florida. Wake will be 2-4pm & 7-9pm on Friday, March 6th at Macken Mortuary Funeral Home in Rockville Centre, NY. Funeral services will be held on March 7th at 9AM at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre. Honorable Donald E Belfi was born In Brooklyn, NY to Eberhard and Margaret Belfi on January 21, 1936.  He grew up in Rockville Centre.  He married Sarah Fisk on December 28, 1968 in Great Neck, NY. He graduated from Georgetown University receiving his BA in English and graduated from Fordham University with his Doctor of Jurisprudence. From 1960 to 1962, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan in Frank Hogan’s Honors program, and from 1962 to 1974 he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County. In 1974, he was elected to the Nassau County District Court bench and was re-elected in 1980.  In the 1984, he was elected to the County Court of Nassau County and continued through 2004.  He presided over many significant cases through the years.   At his retirement from the bench on February 14, 2005, Carolyn McCarthy paid tribute to him in the House of Representatives.  His voluntary activities included serving as commissioner of Rockville Centre Little League, a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree, the AHRC, and the St. Agnes Cathedral Parish Council. He also contributed over 20 years to Georgetown University as both an interviewer and a recruiter for the school. His honors included the Fraternal Order of Court Officers Bench and Bar Award, the Criminal Courts Bar Association's Norman F. Lent Award, the Fordham Law Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award, the DeStefano Industries Annual Award, and the Court Officers Benevolent Association of Nassau County Fidelis Juris Award. Donald Belfi is survived by his wife, Sarah Fisk Belfi (Sally), and his sister Patricia Bednar, his children Eric and his wife Tara, Brian and his wife Adrienne, Tara and her husband Stephen, Rory and his wife Erin, and Sean Belfi. He was adored by his 10 grandchildren Christopher, Katie, James, Sarah, Molly, Jack, Julia, Luca, Mackenzie, and Emily. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers a donation may be given to St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY.  St. Francis and their wonderful care led to 5 more healthy and happy years with his family and friends. https://1150.thankyou4caring.org/
