John Robert Hanson, father, brother, uncle and friend to many passed away on 2/26/2020 after a brief illness. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Elaine Hanson on 11/21/1952. He grew up in Valparaiso, Indiana but spent most of his adult life in West Palm Beach, Florida. He served in the US Army in Vietnam. After leaving the service he met and married Linda Hanson (Ebersold) and adopted her 2 children, Gary, and Geri Lynn. He worked as a land surveyor for Wantman and Associates eventually becoming the firm’s Vice President. Midlife he changed his career path to follow his passion for cooking. He attended the Scottsdale Culinary Institute and graduated cum laude. He worked as a chef until his retirement last year. His passion for cooking led him to work at many locations including the Boulders Resort in Scottsdale, AZ, the Ritz Hotel and Breakers Resort of Palm Beach and the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, MI. He loved fishing and spending time on the water. His family and friends will miss his keen sense of humor and generous spirit. A celebration of John’s life will be held on 3/14/2020 from 12-2 pm at the Sailfish Restaurant in West Palm Beach. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made in John’s name to CCA of Florida.
