Joseph Bandiera Obituary

Joseph Michael Bandiera, 47, of Phoenix, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 12, 2014. He was born on February 19, 1966, to Samuel and Mary Bandiera and was later baptized at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. His family moved often when he was younger as his father completed his military service and medical residency. In high school he wrestled and was on the soccer team, and also participated in gymnastics, choir, and was active in drama. He graduated high school in Brooking, South Dakota in 1984. After high school he attended college at Southwest State University in Marshall, Minnesota, and was a member of the Dean’s List. While there he was a member of the cheerleading team and also participated in the Concert Choir. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration. After graduating college he moved to Phoenix. He first worked for the ABCO supermarket chain in their accounting department. While there he learned how to become a computer programmer and moved from accounting to the computer programming department. With a couple other programmers they created a company called L.M.L. Payment Systems. He later moved to San Francisco and began writing computer programs for the retail sector with Activant and at the same time he was also a contractor. While in San Fransisco he met Charles at a party and a true “love at first sight” encounter occurred. Joe and Charles were married a couple months later in November 2008. Joe will be greatly missed by his husband Charles Bandiera; mother Mary Eggermont; step-father Al Eggermont; brothers Dan, Tom, Sam, Matt; sister Mary Shay; 3 nieces; 5 nephews; 5 step-sisters and 2 step-brothers; mother-in-law Ruth Stefanac and father-in-law Matt Stefanac; sisters-in-law Susan, Lisa, Merete; brother-in-law Michael; their spouses and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Samuel Bandiera. If there is one thing to know about Joe, it is that he was loving. He was loving to all. Joe supported and encouraged everyone around him without asking for anything in return. He was an honest man, who was loving, caring, and protective of his husband and family. Joe laughed easily, sang beautifully, and was a great hugger Joe will be missed.
