Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846. Shirley Jean Tunis, 86, Pueblo, Colorado, died Saturday, November 26, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Pueblo, Colorado. She lived in the Colorado Springs, Colorado area since 1980. She was born October 28, 1924, in Lakin, Kansas, to James B. and Gladys (Stallard) Pinegar. Shirley graduated from Lakin High School in 1942 and received a degree in music education from Kansas State University in 1947. A former longtime resident of Garden City, she had worked as a substitute schoolteacher for Garden City Public Schools and also privately taught music lessons. Shirley was a lifelong active member of the Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed singing in church choirs and playing the piano. She had been a member of The Presbyterian Church of Garden City, Kansas and The First Presbyterian Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Crawford, of Colorado City, Colorado; her grandson, Seth Crawford and great-grandson, Brennan Crawford, Newbern, North Carolina; two nephews and four nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James A. Pinegar.
