Mrs. Edith “Sue” Cooley Oakley, age 77, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, entered into rest, Wednesday evening, February 26, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 6, 1943, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ora and Mable Davis Cooley. Sue’s father founded the Church of Christ in Olive Hill and she was a very faithful member serving the Lord for 58 years. She was the owner and operator for Oakley’s Flowers and Gifts and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking, crafting, making flower arrangements and going shopping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas Cooley, William Cooley, James Cooley and Ira Cooley, and three sisters, Blanche Cooley, Bernice Kiser and Jewell Cooley. Sue is survived by her husband of 56 years, Marlin Oakley; one son, Timmy Oakley of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one daughter, Renodia Caudill (Darren) of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Matthew Caudill (Mary), Shelley Caudill and Paige Rose (Jeremy); six great grandchildren, Carson Caudill, Casey Holbrook, Jace Rose, Oliver Caudill, Jordan Fuston and Kendel Lunsford; and two sisters, Sarah Stamper (Everett) and Madjina McGuire, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Oakley Family Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Marvin Gearhart officiating. Darren Caudill, Matthew Caudill, Jeremy Rose, Tristan Davis, David Cooley, Keith Miller, Mike Cooley and Jordan Fuston will serve as pallbearers. Sue’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all the family and friends for the prayers, visits, and food; Dr. Stacey Bond for coming to the house to do her healthcare; all the St. Claire nurses and therapists for all they did to help; and also St. Claire Hospice. Everybody was so wonderful to her. Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky is caring for all arrangements for Mrs. Edith "Sue" Cooley Oakley.
