Sister Lillian, CSJP, 83 of Englewood Cliffs, NJ, died peacefully at St. Michael Villa on January 22, 2016. She was born on April 4, 1932 and named Catherine in Coolnacuppogue, Co. Carlow, Ireland to the late Michael O’Neill and Elizabeth Foley O’Neill. Sister Lillian entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in Cabra, Co. Down, Northern Ireland on September 12, 1955, and pronounced final vows at St. Michael Novitiate, Englewood Cliffs, NJ on August 22, 1961. A graduate of Caldwell College, with a B.A. in English, Sr. Lillian taught at St. Luke’s School, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, Most Holy Name School, Garfield, NJ, St. Mary’s School, Salem, NJ, St. Joseph’s School, Medford, NJ, Immaculate Conception School, Norwood, NJ and was Principal at Our Lady of Victories, Landisville, NJ. Sister ministered in Pastoral Care to the elderly at Villa Marie Claire, Saddle River, NJ and St. Joseph’s Home for the Blind, Jersey City, NJ before retiring to St. Michael Villa. Sister was pre-deceased by her brothers, Laurence, Martin and Patrick and sister, Mary O’Neill. Sr. Lillian is survived by brothers, James in England, Michael in Ireland and sisters Bridget Donlan in NJ, Elizabeth Holahan, Ireland and Ellen Divine in Ireland as well as by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 from 2-7 PM in St. Michael Villa, 399 Hudson Terrace, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 9:30 AM in St. Michael Villa Chapel.
