Portsmouth-Jacquelyn June Silverdahl, 67, passed away on Thursday December 10, 2015. She was the wife of the late Frank Briggs Carden and was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as Director of Staffing and Classification. She was a mentor to many during her years at the Shipyard and was always an integral part of any major initiative during her tenure because of her vast technical experience. She led the way many years ago in implementing automated procedures in the HRO due to her computer knowledge and training. Jacqie was the Leader of a Girl Scout Equestrian Troop, raced a Formula 4 race car with the Sports Car Club of America, loved horseback riding and dancing. She was an ardent supporter of various charities, especially the ASPCA and the World Wildlife Fund. She was a devoted mother, loyal friend, and handled lifes challenges with grace. She will be dearly missed by her many friends.She is survived by her daughter, Selina Yvette Dillon and her husband Samuel.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, Dec. 16 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Father Tony Morris.
