Alan Colin Markland, M.D. CHARLESTON - Alan Colin Markland, M.D., 83, died on September 2, 2012 of a heart attack at his home in Charleston. Colin was an innovative surgeon, educator and mentor and will be missed by his many colleagues, friends and family. He is survived by his brother, three children and two former wives. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 67 Anson Street, Charleston, SC 29401. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Colin's name to St. Stephen's.
