Herbert Ray Stewart, age 93, of Harrison, Michigan, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Mid-Michigan Regional Medical Center in Midland, Michigan. Mr. Stewart was born the son of George and Nanny (Sasser) Stewart on October 1, 1915 in London, Kentucky. In 1943, he was united in marriage to the former Bertha Sizemore in Waseon, Ohio. Mrs. Stewart preceded him in death on July 31, 1999. Mr. Stewart had worked as an engineer in the automotive field and was also an active member of the United Auto Workers' Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising beagles. He had lived in the Harrison area since 1974 where he had moved from Dearborn, Michigan. He is survived by his son, Ernest (Victoria) Stewart of York, South Carolina; his daughter, Cathy D. Stewart of Taylor, Michigan; his granddaughter, Dawn, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bertha, a daughter, Sue Stewart who passed away in 2005 and eleven brothers and sisters. Visitation will begin on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Stocking Funeral Home in Harrison. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the funeral home with Elder Dale Beavers officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and go until the time of service. Burial will also take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrison.
