Barbara Lyons

Barbara J. Lyons, age 76, of Appleton, peacefully ended her journey on this earth on December 1, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Barb was born on November 24, 1941 in Appleton to the late Chester Wolfgram and Jeanette “Babe” Neiles-Lietz. She married Kenneth J. Lyons on October 9, 1964 to unite the “Barbie Dolls.” Barbara was a stay at home mom and loved to cook for her family. Her hobbies included stays at the cottage, boating, fishing, and raising birds. We cannot forget about the loving compassion she had for her dogs. Barbara is survived by her husband Kenneth J. Lyons, Appleton; 5 children: Kenneth (Carolyn) Lyons II of Oshkosh, Mary (John) Rathsack, Appleton, Gary (Brenda) Lyons, Menasha, Jamie (Michelle) Lyons, Appleton, and Rick (Beth) Lyons, Kaukauna; as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Ronald Lietz, sister Lee Anne Lietz, brother Thomas Lietz, brother-in-law LeRoy Lyons, sister-in-law Marlene Lyons and her father-in-law- and mother-in- law Joseph and Rosella “Sally” Lyons. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Friday, December 8, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Pastor Roy Rogers officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Friday from 4 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The Lyons family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice. Special thanks to Mary Jo Lyons for her dedicated time and support to mom.
