Judith Gill Obituary

Judith Mary Gill, 77, died of natural causes November 8th, 2017 at Manor Care in Appleton. Judy is survived by her brothers and sisters, Gordon Gill, Jr., Florida, Elisabeth Noone, Washington DC, Katie Cassidy, Florida, Greg Gill, Sr., Appleton, Garrett Gill, Appleton, Dan Gill, Appleton and Kevin Gill, North Carolina. Son Edward Schroeder of Denmark, Wisconsin, daughter Judith and her husband Dale Hutchens of Knoxville, Tennessee, two grandchildren, Rachael and Madeline Hutchens, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her beloved, loyal, spoiled cat, TJ. Judy was born Oct. 8, 1940 in Chicago to Gordon Phillip Gill and Mary Kay Steinberg Gill. She spent her first years in the Chicago area until Gordon Gill Sr. moved his family to Appleton to begin his law practice. Judy’s first experience in school was a one room school house in Menasha followed by St. Patrick’s in Menasha and Neenah High School. Judy’s fondness for St. Francis was manifested in her love for animals. For years Judy enjoyed sheltering and caring for numerous dogs and cats. In her garden, no matter the season, Judy provided an abundance of seeds, treats, birdhouses and toys for the birds and squirrels patiently waiting outside her living room window. Judy was also fond of St. Jude whom Judy laughingly would say was the Patron Saint of Hopeless Cases. She called on St. Jude often for anything from a lost house key or cat to a near hopeless situation. Judy will be remembered for her sense of humor, feistiness, independence, inner strength, wisdom and her love of family and animals. The Gill family is forever grateful to the caregivers at Manor Care and Hospice for the professional care and genuine compassion for our sister Judy. The Gill family also would like to thank Greg Gill, Sr. and his wife Cathie, and Garrett Gill and his wife Gretchen, for helping make Judy as comfortable as possible throughout the years. A Mass for Judy will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Appleton on November 14th at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
