Stanley Karras Obituary

Stanley G. Karras 69, Appleton, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 6, 2017. Stan was born in Appleton on November 2, 1948. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He and his late wife Julie Krueger were high school sweethearts; married 42 wonderful years with deep love, respect and devotion. Stan will be deeply missed by his son Dan Karras, daughter Rachel (David) Hoyer; grandchildren: Maxwell Hoyer, Georgia Hoyer and Mia Karras. Stan retired after many successful years working at International Paper. Most of all Stan was an artist and his talents as a water color painter of surreal and nature art were enjoyed and displayed in several local galleries and art shows. He loved to share his art talents and encouraged his grandchildren and family with their artistic abilities. For many years, he was an avid collector of military antiques and he managed his booth at the Fox River Antique Mall with great joy and pleasure selling antiques, art and refurbished pond boats. Stan and Julie loved to travel, and Stan would always find something special on their travels to keep or sell. After his wife’s passing, Stan always continued to remain positive even with his struggles with Parkinson’s disease. Although he was living independently at The Heritage, the staff and residence provided a special and caring environment. Stan donated paintings displayed at The Heritage. Stan is also survived by his loving mother Ursula Karras and his siblings: Michael (Peggy) Karras, Nick Karras, Pam (Tom) Huss, Nancy (Dan) Kohlman, Steve Karras, Tina Karras and Bill (Chris) Karras; numerous nieces and nephews. Stan was preceded in death by his wife Julie Karras and father Nicholas Karras. There will be a visitation at Brettschneider Trettin – Nickel Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 17th from 4 – 7 pm. A Memorial fund is being established.
