Bernard P. “Barney” Kiernan Burlington Bernard Patrick "Barney" Kiernan, 87 passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 at Birchwood Nursing Home in Burlington surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Currygrane, Ballinalee Ireland on January 27, 1923 son of the late Bernard and Rose (Macken) Kiernan. Barney had served during WWII with the US Army. He married the former Marguerite "Betsy" West on November 6, 1955 in Beacon, New York. He had been employed for numerous years with I.B.M. Barney will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He is survived by: His loving wife of 54 years Betsy (West) Kiernan of Burlington; Beloved grandson Josh Krasofski and his wife Prudence; His namesake great-granddaughter Kiernan Krasofski; His god daughter Leigh Ann McDonald and many friends. Betsy's and Barney's love and thanks to all the staff at Birchwood Terrace, to Dr. Karp and Bishop Angell for their loving care and comfort. Barney's thought: "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and proclaiming "WOW What a Ride!!!" There will be no public visiting hours held. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at A. W. Rich Funeral Home - Essex Chapel with the Reverend Bob Magie officiating. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Barney's memory may be made to Toys for Kids, P.O. Box 4092, Burlington, VT 05406 Arrangements are by John D. Workman, A. W.
