Gerald (Gerry) Schell

Schell, Gerald (Gerry) Passed away, peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Marjorie (nee Collins) Schell (2006). Loving father of Anne Marie Galloway and her husband Tom and the late Bernard Schell (March 2012) and father-in-law of Sheila Schell. Loving grandfather of Michael (Holly), Kateri (Jim Downie), Colleen (Michael Borman), Kelly (fiancé Trevor Sealock), and Mark Galloway (Ann-Marie Kilpatrick) and Lauren (Mike Gingerich). Treasured great-grandfather of Tyler, Ryan, Joshua, Nathan, Addison, Zachary and James. Gerry will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Gerry is the last surviving member of the John and Elizabeth Schell family. Predeceased by his brothers Art, Leo, Cyril, Urban and sisters Clara, Ruby, Rita, Doretta and Eleanor. Gerry was a WW II Veteran with the Irish Regiment, serving in Italy and Holland. Gerry retired as Depot Manger from Canada Post after 35 years service and was a founding member and past executive of the Heritage Club of Canada Post. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1504 having served as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He was also a member of the Serra Club, Holy Name Society, Branch 50, Royal Canadian Legion and Waterloo Seniors. Gerry’s family will receive relatives and friends from 12-12:45 pm on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Church (305 Laurentian Drive, Kitchener) followed by a Funeral Mass at 1 pm. Reception to follow in the Parish Centre.
