Kay Taylor

Kay Taylor, 81, of Forest City, died Friday May 20 at White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton. A native of Rome, GA, she was a daughter of the late Fritz East and Mary Louise Kay Horton. She was a graduate of Converse College and a retired hearing officer for the North Carolina Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. She is survived by two sons, Michael Wren Taylor and wife Mary Kathryn of Rutherfordton and Dr. Leslie Taylor of Smithfield; one sister, Martha Norris and husband Peter of Atlanta, GA; and one grandchild, Emily Kathryn Taylor of Rutherfordton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Lancaster Taylor Jr and son Frederic Monroe “Fritz” Taylor. A Memorial service will be held Friday, May 27 at 11 AM at Crowe’s Mortuary in Rutherfordton with Rev. John Perry officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
