Ann Coffield

Ann Stewart Coffield passed away on May 18, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. A native of Fairfield County, SC but a long time resident of Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late W.E. and Hattie Greene Stewart of Winnsboro, S.C. Ann was a 1937 graduate of Winthrop College with a 2 year business degree. She began her career at Queen Ann Mills in Ellenboro, Laurel Mill and later at Isothermal Community College in the Adult Education Department until retirement. Ann was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her sister, Hattie Greene Stewart of Charlotte, NC and a brother W.E. “Gene” Stewart, Jr of Winnsboro, SC. She is survived by her daughter Harriett Stewart Coffield with whom she made her home for the last five years, two sons, Orus Reid Coffield III of Columbia, MO and William “Bill” Coffield of Boiling Springs, SC. five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Hopewell United Methodist Church, Hollis Road, Ellenboro, NC on Thursday, May 26th 2011, at 11:30AM with the Rev. Ed Lee, former pastor officiating. The family will receive friends in the church social hall immediately after the service. Memorials may be made to the Hopewell Church Cemetery Fund c/o Neil Danner, 297 Poole Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040 or to the charity of one’s choice.
