Winston Wilbanks

Winston Houston Wilbanks, age 70, of Mt Airy, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at his residence. Born in Toccoa, GA on November 1, 1940, he is the son of the late Roy Winslow Wilbanks and Ellene Loudermilk Wilbanks Perry. Mr. Wilbanks lived most of his life in Habersham County. He was a farmer, a self employed mechanic, owner of United Erectors Corp. and retired from Fieldale Farms, having worked in the maintenance department. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his family and spending time with them. Winston was a founding member of Glade Creek Fire Department. He enjoyed restoring and showing antique cars and enjoyed his many friends from the car shows. Survivors include wife, Catherine Hall Wilbanks of Mt Airy; son, Robin Dale Wilbanks of Mt Airy; daughters, Rhonda Gail Wilbanks of Toccoa, Tammy Ellene Wilbanks of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Ann Wilbanks Mixon and Mickey Mixon of Mt Airy; brothers, Roy Lee Wilbanks of Greenwood, SC, Bobby Ray Wilbanks of Mt Airy, Ralph Wilbanks of Mt Airy, Homer Wilbanks of Homer, Johnny Wilbanks of Lula; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2011 at Antioch Baptist Church with Mr. Darryl Sosebee, Rev. James Franklin and Rev. William Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-9 pm Thursday.
