Margaret Ray Hampton Obituary

Blacksburg -- Margaret Ray Hampton, 86, of 184 Cherokee Falls Road, passed away Saturday, August 3rd, 2013, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Blacksburg, Mrs. Hampton was the widow of Jack Hampton and the daughter of the late Herbert Lee and Eva Bertha Kiser Ray. She retired from working with her husband at Whites Auto Store, then became a homemaker. Mrs. Hampton was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hampton is survived by a daughter, Linda Gordon and husband, Scott, of Blacksburg; a son, Bobby Hampton, of the home; a brother, Cecil Ray and wife, Ginny, of Blacksburg; a son-in-law, Bobby Collins, of Blacksburg; eight grandchildren, Matt Gordon and wife, Katie, Amanda Gilfillan and husband, Jason, Adam Gordon and wife, Ashley, Arthur Hampton, Muriel Hampton, Bobby Collins Jr. and wife, Dawn, Richie McDonald and wife, Angie, and Kristin Collins; ten great-grandchildren, Paisleigh Gordon, Anna Gilfillan, Ryan Gillfillan, Jacob Gilfillan, Aedan Gordon, Elijah Owen, Ashley Collins, Megan Collins, Blake McDonald and wife, Jessica, and Miranda McDonald; and one great-great-granddaughter, Amberlyn McDonald.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hampton was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Collins.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 6th, 2013, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 7th, at 11:00am at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Sellers and 2LT Arthur Hampton officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens. Donnie Hampton, Matt Gordon, Adam Gordon, 2LT Arthur Hampton, Richie McDonald, and Bobby Collins Jr. will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be at the home of Scott and Linda Gordon, 178 Cherokee Falls Road, Blacksburg.
