Mrs. Eliza "Alice" Cantarella 101, of Pittsfield died Friday, June 15, 2012 at her home in the loving presence of her family. She was born in Arco Grotta, Province of Trento, Italy on July 4, 1910 a daughter of the late Antonio and Domenica (Donegani) Passerini. She came to this country in 1921 and lived in Readsboro, Vt., and North Adams, moving to Pittsfield in 1925 and attended Pittsfield Schools. Primarily a homemaker, she also had lived in Naples, Fla., for 25 years, while living in Pittsfield she was involved with the activities of the Pittsfield Parks and Recreation. She was a Fan of the Boston Red Sox. Her husband John L. Cantarella died on February 29, 1992 and they were married on May 9, 1933. Survivors include three Sons, John A. Cantarella and his wife Frances of Richmond, Paul J. Cantarella of Lanesborough, Americo Cantarella and his wife Normande of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., One Daughter, Madeline Culpo of Pittsfield, 18 Grandchildren, 44 Great Grandchildren, One Great Great Grandchild, & Nieces, Nephews, & Great Nieces & Nephews. She was predeceased by Three Sisters and One Brother, Camille Nugai, Antoinette Nugai, Gina Raiteri, Olivo Passerini. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Eliza "Alice" Cantarella will be Monday, June 18, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. There are No Calling Hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA.01201, which is charge of arrangements.
