George E. Guerrettaz Greenwood, Indiana Obituary

George E. Guerrettaz

George E. Guerrettaz, age 73, of Coatesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, February 12, 2020, in his home with his wife, Shirley, and sons, David and Mark, by his side. George was born July 6, 1946, in Flora, Illinois, the seventh (of seven) son of Paul and Martha (Bazaar) Guerrettaz. George grew up on a family farm in Flora, and he enjoyed farming and raising cattle of his own. He studied to become a skilled journeyman and pipefitter, and after working in this role for more than thirty (30) years, he decided to pursue his childhood dream of operating his own independent trucking firm. With the aid of his wife, Shirley (who served as his dispatcher), George spent his last professional years as an over-the-road semi-tractor driver, hauling goods across much of the southern and western United States. Throughout his professional endeavors George always kept his family close. He loved his wife, Shirley, who was by his side for 55 years, and he treasured every moment he could spend with his two sons, David and Mark. George was fond of his extended family, including his six older brothers and all of their families. George is survived by his wife, Shirley (Ross) and his two sons, David Guerrettaz (wife, Leanne) of Evansville, Indiana, and Mark Guerrettaz (wife, Cynthia) of Avon, Indiana. He is also survived by five (5) grandchildren: Ryan, Kristen, Brooklynn, Bradley, and Austin; three step-grandchildren: Celeste, Evan, and Alex Englert; four brothers: James "Jim" Guerrettaz of Rockville, IN, Jerry Guerrettaz, of Houston, TX, Don Guerrettaz of Indianapolis, IN, and Robert "Bob" Guerrettaz of Cloverdale, IN. George is also survived by countless nephews and nieces. George was preceded in death by his parents and his two (2) oldest brothers, Paul, Jr., and William ("Bill"). A memorial service honoring George's life will be held at 3:00 p.m.(ET) Saturday, March 7th, at the Bainbridge Community Center, 201 N Grant Ave, Bainbridge, IN 46105. Father Leopold Keffler, OFM Conv., Ph.D., will officiate. A light meal and refreshments will be served immediately afterward. All are invited to attend.
