Nicole Anne Westerhuis

Nicole Anne (Fish) Westerhuis, 41, of Platte, SD passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015. A Private Family Funeral Service and Committal will be held. (Checks made to: P-G School) Nicole Anne (Fish) Westerhuis was born on April 5, 1974 to George W. and Karen (Beukelman) Fish in Platte, SD. She graduated from Platte Community High School and went on to Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. On August 23, 1997 she was united in marriage to Scott Lewis Westerhuis in Aberdeen. Nicole was employed as the Platte City Finance Officer and was currently a Grant Manager with Mid-Central Educational Cooperative in Platte. Nicole was an active member of the First Reformed Church, a Junior High Girls Mentor and Awana Leader. Spending time with her children was an important part of her life. Grateful for having shared in Nicole’s life: her parents, George and Karen Fish of Platte, SD; grandfather, Floyd Beukelman of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Theresa (Dave) Barnes of Yankton, SD and Colleen (Keith) Hurlbut of Phillips, WI; a sister-in-law, Steph Fish of Columbia Heights, MN; mother-in-law, Pat Westerhuis of Platte, SD; brother-in-law, Marc Westerhuis of Strawberry Point, IA; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends. Nicole was preceded in death by: her brother, Tim Fish; grandmother, Elda (Mesman) Beukelman; grandparents, George, Sr. and Theresa Fish; father-in-law, Harm Westerhuis; and sister-in-law, Gina Westerhuis. Also her husband, Scott; two sons, Michael and Connor; and two daughters, Jaeci and Kailey.
