Dr. Dennis John O’Keefe, age 81, of Manor Court, Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Thursday evening, February 20, 2020, at his residence. He was born October 11, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Maurice Joseph and Gertrude Berggren O’Keefe. Dennis attended Heritage Unitarian Universalist Church and he enjoyed playing scrabble and tennis, running, reading the New York Times, teaching, going to men’s group, watching his grandchildren play sports, talking with his children and bird watching. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Brendan and Lori O’Keefe of Garrison, Kentucky; one daughter and son-in-law, Simone and Jim Mauro of Mount Airy, Maryland; and four grandchildren, Cameron Loadwick, Michael Mauro, Samuel O’Keefe and Sydney O’Keefe. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the Heritage Memorial Acres Cemetery.
