Lloyd E. Allen Obituary

BLAINE - Our Dad, Lloyd Earl Allen, known to many as Buster,  passed away peacefully on February 19, 2020.  He was born January 8, 1934 as far as he was concerned,  he did not have a birthday after he turned 39 years! Dad was predeceased by the only wife he ever had, Patricia Salmon Allen and together they had four children.  Peter (Margaret) Allen, Patti (Greg) Clews, Pam (Frank) Everett and Penny (Andrew) Bubar.  As well, he was blessed with more grandchildren than he knew what to do with.  Sarah, Seth, Shanna, Rose Marie, Kate, Abi, Destiny, Pierce, Johannah, Jenica and six Great Grand Children-  Ana, Lincoln, Lakelin, Brailyn, Shailyn and Korrie.   Dad is also survived by his brothers Leroy (Gail) Allen, Gerald (Sandra) Allen and his baby sister Darlene (Bruce) Cook. Dad spent most of his adult life in Albany New York where he worked first as a mechanic and then as a manager for H.L. Gage Sales Inc.  Work was really what gave Dad his significance and you would even find him rebuilding truck motors in the evenings.   When he retired at the age of 71, he continued paying his green fees by repairing golf carts and mowers at Burden Lake Country Club.  He was proud of the fact that he landed two aces doing what he loved—golfing.  Dad loved to eat out, buy clothing,  boots, collect coins, flirt with the waitresses and ordered his vehicles from the factory so it could be just what he wanted.   He also had a great love for squirrels, and had more than one greet him in his yard when he arrived to eat nuts from his hand.    In 2015 Dad moved back to where he started in Maine, so he could be near his family.  It was the most time we had ever had with Dad and were given the privilege of getting to know him a bit better.  He was kind, funny,  (sometimes inappropriate!) had a positive attitude, and even though he believed he was a hermit, he was thankful to have us near by as he faced the reality that he did have birthdays after he was 39 years old. We will never forget you Dad. There will be a private celebration of life in Canada.  Anyone who would like to make a donation in memory of Dad, Aroostock House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle Maine 04769, is absolutely wonderful.
