Catherine A. (nee Steffens) Sapara of Bayonne passed away at the age of 62 on Monday, February 29, 2016 with her devoted husband, Michael, at her side. Catherine was born and raised in Jersey City. She was a resident of Bayonne for the past 34 years. Catherine graduated from Snyder High School in Jersey City and then Jersey City State College where she majored in English. She taught high school English in North Bergen and later on was a substitute teacher for the Bayonne board of education. She then went on to become a realtor with the McGeehan and Panerio Realtors in Bayonne. She was an associate member of the Viet Nam Veterans Bayonne Chapter 151 and then Bergen County Chapter 800. Catherine was the loving wife of 34 years to Michael E. Sapara; daughter of the late Arthur & Catherine (nee Hilken) Steffens; and also survived by several cousins. She was kind to everyone she ever met; loved all animals and especially her dogs that passed away, Tiffany Anne and Amber Joy. Visitation will be at the Dzikowski, Pierce & Levis Funeral Home, 24 East 19th Street, Bayonne on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 The funeral will be Saturday from the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 9:30 in St. Henry’s Church, Avenue “C” Bayonne. Entombment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.
