McLaughlin, Betty Ruth - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Betty McLaughlin at Temiskaming Hospital in New Liskeard on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the age of 80 years. Betty passed away peacefully with her family and close friends by her side. Betty was born on August 8, 1930 to the late Percy Antoine Grozelle and the late Mabel Sutherland, and was predeceased by her brother Bob Grozelle. She was a lifelong resident of Haileybury and a lifelong member of the St. Paul's Anglican Church. Betty was an avid golfer throughout her life, and had also enjoyed curling, cross-country skiing and a good game of bridge with her friends. She had worked at Cavanagh's Ladies Wear and had very fond memories of those times. Betty was known for her quick wit and great sense of humour. You could count on laughter when you were in her presence. She is remembered as a devoted and caring wife and mother, a meticulous homemaker, and a cherished friend. Loving wife of Dave McLaughlin. Sadly missed by her children: John [Lisa] McLaughlin of Waterloo, Bob McLaughlin of Southampton, Carol [Gord] Srigley and Debbie McLaughlin [Steve] both of Vancouver. She will also be warmly remembered by her grandchildren: Christine, Jodi, Casey, Corey, Tiffany and Jessie; her brother Bill Grozelle of Haileybury, and her nieces and nephew Kathy Shasha, Karen Wilson, and Ron Grozelle. In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time.
