Charles Russell McKinney, 71, went to his eternal home on February 16, 2020. He was born on October 14, 1948 in Selma, AL to George M. McKinney and Sue W. McKinney. He served as a state police officer. He was predeceased in death by his parents, brothers Sammy Roy McKinney and George M. McKinney, Jr. and grandparents: George W. McKinney, Charlie Moore McKinney, Russell Wilson and Katie Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Deborah Sue Massey McKinney as well as neices: Amanda McKinney Pinkstaff (John), Elizabeth Oakes Lambert (Greg); nephews: George "Mac" McKinney and Brandon C. Oakes. He is also survived by great neices: Zadie Pinkstaff, Abagail McKinney, Lillie McKinney, Sela McKinney, Hazel Elizabeth Lambert, Dorie Pinkstaff; great nephews: Samuel "Huck" McKinney, Sullivan E. Lambert; and sister-in-laws Sara McKinney and Kay Massey Jones (Lee). Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro, AL. Rev. Steve Vernon will be officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes, Greensboro chapel directing. Honorary pallbearers are: Randy Goss, Ray Johnson, David Ryan, Bryant Gray, Jimmy Stringfellow, Robert "Buster" Latham, Richard Weishaupt, Aaron Gillory, Basil Hoggle and Kenny Wyatt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Greensboro Bible Methodist Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
