Harriet K. Keenan

Harriet Kathleen Keenan, 91, of Eveleth died Friday, August 19, 2011 Eveleth Health Services Park in Eveleth. She was born on December 20, 1919 to Harry R. and Mayme (Burke) Bernicke in Eveleth. Harriet was raised and educated in Leonidas and graduated from Eveleth High School. She graduated from Eveleth Junior College and received a Bachelor Degree of Science majoring in nursing from St. Scholastica. Harriet married Harry J. Keenan on December 20, 1945 in San Diego. Before living in Eveleth, she had lived in Santa Barbara, California, and Duluth. She worked as a registered nurse in Santa Barbara, California, and several Iron Range Hospitals. She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Margaret #1888-Eveleth, Harriet enjoyed reading, cooking, playing cards, traveling and shopping. She is survived by her children: Kathy (Gary) Cooper of Iron, Patricia Keenan of Dunedin, Fl.,Kevin (Maureen) Keenan of Eveleth, Mary (Buster) Carrigan of Palm Harbor, Fl., 8 grandchildren; Derrick Keenan, Jared and Shannon Rouillard, Caleb, Patric, and Kaitlin Keenan, Nicole Towns, Megan Carrigan, three great-grandchildren; Natecia, Dontrell, Nyasia and numerous nieces and nephews. The Keenan family would like to thank St. Raphael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center and the Eveleth Health Services Park for their kindness and professional care that was given to Harriet.
