Aaron Art Mehaffey

Aaron Mehaffey, 94, of Eastland passed away on February 14, 2020. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Bethany Baptist Church with Don Bearden officiating the service. A reception will follow the service in the church's fellowship hall with light refreshments being served until 3:00 pm. The interment is under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Aaron Mehaffey was born on November 29, 1925, in Comanche, Texas, to H. H. and Eddith Roberson Mehaffey and was the second of their ten children. Aaron attended Breckenridge Public Schools, Ranger Junior College, and Hardin Simmons University. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II including time spent in the South Pacific on Saipan. Aaron married Lorena Richardson on August 25, 1946, in Breckenridge, Texas. He lived in Breckenridge for most of his life where he and Lorena raised their two children; later they enjoyed living on Hubbard Creek Lake. Aaron was a Charter Member of Bethany Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for many years and taught Sunday school classes for 49 years. Aaron was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lorena Richardson Mehaffey in 2013; his parents; brothers Howard Leon, Thomas Claude, and Maurice Rogers Mehaffey; sisters Patty Lorese Mehaffey Russell, and Estrella Mehaffey Cooper. He is survived by son Dana King Mehaffey and wife Beverly of Cisco, Texas; daughter Dianne Mehaffey Garrison and husband Rick of Georgetown, Texas; grandson Jerrod Worsham and wife Kelli, also of Georgetown, Texas; granddaughter Sarah Mehaffey Wells and husband Robby of Weatherford, Texas; great-grandchildren Taylor Duncan, Sierra Worsham, Chandler Duncan, Kameron Wells, and Gracie Wells. Aaron is also survived by brothers Robert Joe Mehaffey of Hurst, Texas; Terry Hughes Mehaffey of Los Lunas, New Mexico; and sisters Jenice Mehaffey Bacon of Eastland, Texas, and Sue Mehaffey Thompson of Tom Bean, Texas. Aaron is survived by many nephews and nieces, along with multiple generations of extended family and many friends from his well-lived life. Memorials can be made to a charity of donor’s choice, and left at the Melton Kitchens Funeral Home. Condolences can be made at www.meltonkitchens.com
