William Kenneth McCrimmon Obituary

William Kenneth McCrimmon, age 85 of West End, passed away February 13, 2020. Native of Moore County, he was son to the late Mary Frances Neese and John Roderick McCrimmon and graduated from Southern Pines High School in 1953.

William was a Retired Air Force Master Sargent who worked with all four divisions of the Air Force (Strategic Air, Air Defense, Tactical Air, and Security Service) during his 21 year career. Once retired he worked for the Penick Home in Southern Pines for another 19 years as Maintenance Director.

He was a life member of the VFW John Boyd Post 7318, life member of DAV and life member of the American Legion Post #72. William served as Post Commander of VFW Post 7318 and Chaplin. He was also a District 9 Commander from 1987 to 1989.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife LaRue, stepson Steven Garner, grandsons William Michael and Jeremy Chavis, and brother-in-law’s Eugene Goodwin and Gerald Brown.

He is survived by his children Linda Ferguson (Bobby) of West End, Michael McCrimmon (Marsha) of Whispering Pines, stepchildren Phyllis Hancox and Darlene Foster of Sanford. Siblings Johnsie Goodwin of Oklahoma, Julia McCall (Tommy) of Wagram, Jane Smith (JC) of Pinehurst, Warren McCrimmon (Sandra). Sister-in-law Sandra Brown of Sanford and brother-in-law Jerry Bullard (Janette) of Winston Salem; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and 1 great caregiver, house keeper, yard keeper and friend, Teresa Conner.

Visitation will be held Wednesday February 19, 2020 from 5-7pm and the service held Thursday February 20, 2020 at 1pm at Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines conducted by Pastor Sammy Frye. Burial will follow in Bethesda Cemetery with full military honors.
