Dorothy M. Ott, 93, of Black River Falls, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at home, surrounded by her family. She was born June 18, 1926 at home to Otto and Blanche (Johnson) Young. In 1944, Dorothy married Kenneth Ott in Pine Hill and lived in Black River Falls all their married life. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Black River Falls High School. She worked as an assistant to Congressman, Lester Johnson. Dorothy lived in Washington DC for two years doing so before moving back to Black River Falls and running his office there. When he retired, she went on to work for an attorney in Black River Falls. In 1964, Kenneth and Dorothy purchased Heineck’s Greenhouse. They operated Ott’s Floral until 1979 when they sold due to Ken’s poor health. Dorothy enjoyed her flowers and baking sweets for everyone. Dorothy is survived by her children, Carmen Syverson, of Pigeon Falls, Bruce (Andrea), of Beloit, WI; grandchildren, Darren (Shelle) Dunn, Teresa (Kerry) Reetz, Darla (Matt) Grenawalt, and Wade Ott; great-grandchildren, Kortni, Gaige, Jordan, Jason, Tanner, Conner, and Gehrig; great-great-grandchild, Beckett; sister, Delores Zahn; brother, Owen (Donna) Young; sister-in-law, Elaine, of Black River Falls; she is further survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; son-in-law, Wiley Syverson; brothers-in-law, Paul Zahn, Cecil and Robert Ott. In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to Interfaith in Mom’s memory. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family.
