Chuck Henry

Charles L. Henry (Chuck), 76, of Winterset, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020, at his home. A visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, Thursday, February 20, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset, with family present to receive friends from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Friday, February 21, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Burial will be in the Greenfield Cemetery. Chuck, son of Herschel and Lela (Sloan) Henry, was born August 9, 1943, in Dubuque, Iowa. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School, 1961, and Iowa State University, with a B.S. in forestry, 1965. He married Susan Lovely on March 19, 1966, in Greenfield, Iowa. He was in ROTC while at Iowa State, then served in the US Army as an Artillery Officer 1966-1967. The active duty was served at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, at Officer Candidate School, and in Germany. Chuck worked in the timber industry and as a small business owner. The family lived in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Missouri. In 2008, Chuck and Susan moved to Winterset for retirement. Chuck is survived by his wife, Susan Henry of Winterset; his children, Bradley (Jessica) Henry of West Des Moines, and Jennifer (Mac) Rice of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Mackenzie Rice, Stephanie Rice, Logan Henry, and Alexis Henry; brothers, Douglas (Martha Fuerste) Henry of Dubuque and James (Wendy) Henry of West Des Moines; mother-in-law, Iola Lovely of Greenfield; sisters-in-law, Sandra Henry of Indialantic, Florida and Marilyn (Rolan) Jensen of Fontanelle; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Allen Henry and Warren Henry, and father-in-law, Merlin Lovely.
