Alice Kambanos

Alice C. (Nappe) Kambanos was born to Tollef and Hannah Nappe January 31, 1929 on a farm at rural Lake Mills, Iowa. Alice was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Sion Lutheran Church rural Lake Mills. After graduating from Joice, Iowa High School she went to work for Barons a women's clothing store in Mason City, Iowa, where she met her future husband James G. Kambanos. Alice and Jim were married August 1951 in Tacoma, Washington while Jim was serving in the Air Force. While stationed at Fairbanks Alaska, a daughter, Lori was born on August 5th in 1952. After discharge, the new family lived in many parts of the country as Jim continued his career and Alice as a homemaker and mother. For the past 40 plus years, Alice and family have lived in the Phoenix area. Preceding Alice in death are her Husband Jim, Daughter Lori, Jim's parents, Alice's parents, Brothers Orlyn, Stanley (Betty), Ralph (Evelyn), Wilmer (Verlene), Leonard and Sisters Ruth (Olaf) and Thelma (Bill). Surviving is her brother Donald (Carol), Sister-in-law Verlene and many nephews, nieces and friends in many parts of this country. Alice was a devoted wife to Jim, caring mother for Lori and dedicated homemaker for her family. Jim and Alice, the children of immigrants blended their Greek and Norwegian heritage into a true American life.
