Nellie Faye Feltner Castleman, 74., of Martinsburg, went to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Care Haven Center. Faye was born March 20, 1945, with identical twin sister, Raye, in Martinsburg, WV, to the late James Ira Feltner, Jr. and Mildred Jane Batten Feltner. She married James L. Castleman (church and family friend) in 1968. Faye retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital with 28 years of service. She was a devout Christian and member of the Winchester Avenue Christian Church. In addition to her involvement with her church, Faye was a member of many community associations throughout her life. . . Civitan and Womens’ Clubs, in Martinsburg, as well as in Lexington, KY, and Shreveport, LA. And, even though she suffered with very poor eyesight, Faye spent many hours at Christmas time writing and sending greeting cards to our service men and women. . . . sharing some of her stories to give them a sense of home and to let them know they were being thought of. In addition to her “story telling”, she enjoyed cooking, reading, and traveling; but most of all – caring for others, especially her time spent with Michael McCullough as he was growing up. Her selfless and caring ways touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered with joy by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Faye was predeceased by her husband, James Lawrence Castleman; twin sister, Gertrude Raye Feltner-Kapornyai; brothers-in-law, Daniel Feltner-Kapornyai, Charles VanDeMark, and Paul Wayne Ott. Those she leaves to cherish her memory include sister and husband, Ellen and Pete Patterson of Inwood, WV; brother and wife, David and Brenda Feltner of Berkeley Springs; and sister and husband, Sylvia and Bob Nowlin of Oviedo, FL; and many other family members and friends. Faye’s “special” family will be waiting to greet her on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge: Thursday, Little Bit, Polo, and Smokie. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to those friends from her clubs and church that offered assistance to Faye in various ways – and especially to her good neighbors, Margaret Grubbs and Millie Dunmire, who were there for her over the years. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 11:00AM at Winchester Avenue Christian Church with Pastor David Bowers officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
