NANCY PEARL RIFE, 77 years of age of Roseann, VA, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late George McClellan Rife Sr. and Julie Hackney Rife. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Roseann Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John William Duty; Step-Son: David Nicholas Rife; Brothers: Ernest Richard Rife, George (Peanut) McClellan Rife Jr., Clarence Rife, Clyde Earl Rife and Dalton Deutch. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Preston “Red” Rife of Roseann, VA; her son, John William Duty Jr. of Roseann, VA; Step-Daughter: Lila Megan Rife of Richmond, VA; Sisters: Joan Matney of Cleveland, OH, Peggy Tremble of Dover, DE; Brothers: William E. “Tobe” (Doris) Rife of Vansant, VA, Cleveland (Judy) Rife of Princeton, WV; Special Cousin/Brother: Joe Lee Rife of Roseann, VA; Grandchildren: Amanda Sue (Josh) Shafer of Grundy, VA, Joseph Kyle Yates of Vansant, VA; Great-Grandchildren: Hayden, Kendal and Brennen. Also, survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for NANCY PEARL RIFE will be conducted Monday, February 17, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Rife (Vansant Church of Christ) and Curtis Stacy officiating with burial to follow at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
