Oliphant: Thomas 'Tom' Henry - A resident of Chatham, Thomas Oliphant passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Riverview Gardens on February 13, 2020 at the age of 90. Born in Chatham, Tom was the son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Markham) Oliphant. Beloved husband of 68 years to Beatrice (nee Hill). Loving father to Pat Montgomery, Greg (Kim) Oliphant, and Beth Oliphant. Cherished grandpa to Steve (Danielle) Montgomery, Kris (Cherise) Montgomery, Kate Montgomery, Kasey (Mike) Maguire, P.J. Coholan, and the late Erin Booth. Great grandpa to Jadyn, Maxwell, Penny, Colbie, Claire, and Grant. Brother to the late Stella (Dan) Springer. Brother in law to Shirley (late Lin) Hess and Angela Hill, and predeceased by Stan Hill, Doris (George) Fortin, Audrey Agnew, and Harvey (Donna) Hill. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Tom will be remembered for his sense of humour, years spent as a tool and die machinist, volunteering at the Active Lifestyle Centre and was an active member of the Foresters Group. He was an active sportsman (especially baseball and bowling), avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed his quality family time. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Monday February 17, 2020 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St. in Chatham with a funeral service being held Tuesday February 18, at 11:00am at the funeral home with Rev. Paul McPhail officiating. Private family interment to take place at a later date. Donations made in memory of Tom to the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated.
