Mrs. Irene M. Crump of Kentwood, Michigan, age 82, passed away on February 13, 2020, and rests now with her Lord and Savior. Irene was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 18, 1937, and attended Kelloggsville High School. Irene was a devout Catholic and faithful servant to her Lord. As a longtime member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Irene loved volunteering as a server, for the food pantry, God’s Kitchen, and more. Irene and Rodney spent twenty years of their retirement in N. Ft. Meyers, Florida, before coming back to Michigan around 2013. Always keeping busy, Irene was talented in many areas-- she was a gifted crafter and sewer, BINGO player, and was a State Champion shuffleboard player in both Florida and Michigan! Irene loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren the most; often teaching them her favorite card games. Irene is survived by her children, Mark (Valerie) Crump, Paulette (Tim) Scytko, and Ann (Thomas) Groot; grandchildren Stephany (Albert) Enders, Cora (Kevin) Thompson, Mark Crump, Jr., Tim Scytko, Tony (Amber Dood) Scytko, Jennifer (Robert) Pingston, Jaclyn (Kevin) Greenlee, and Thomas (Ashley) Groot, Jr.; great grandchildren, Tristan and Drake Enders, Autumn, Audrey, Austin, and Addison Thompson, Taylor Scytko, Jasmine and Hunter Scytko, Nathan Groot, Oakland Pingston, Kylie, Khloe, and Kaleb Greenlee, and Taylar, Jordyn, and Gavin Groot; brother Harold Priest; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved members of the family. Irene was preceded in death by her husband Rodney; son Rodney, Jr.; and sisters Lavone Armstrong and Barb DeBoer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Vu at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd Street SE, Kentwood, MI 49508. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the burial.
