Samuel Sato, Jr. age 73, of Mt. Olivet, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at his home in Robertson County. Sam was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 28, 1946 to the late Samuel & Leola Sato. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and The Maysville Masonic Lodge, but his heart truly belonged in his hometown of Mt. Olivet, KY. He was the Owner/Operator of Mt. Olivet Service Center in Mt. Olivet, KY for 28 years. He started his business in Mt. Olivet after working for Browning Manufacturing in Maysville, KY for 23 years. When he wasn't working, he truly enjoyed boating on Cave Run Lake in Morehead and many, many years of camping with family and friends. His most delightful boating/camping partner was his beloved wife of 55 years, Bernice "Barney" Sato. Besides his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his Grandmother, who raised him, Thompsie Poe Robinson, Sister, Rita Brashear and Brother-in-law Willis Brashear. Sam is survived by his Son Samuel (Patty) Sato of Florence, Kentucky; Daughter Kelly (Kirk) Manley, of Evansville, Indiana. Grandchildren are Joshua (Kasi) Sato, Whitley Sato, Jacob Manley, Jordan Manley and great-grandchildren Alexan Sparks, Hudson Sparks and Duke Sato. Also, nieces Diana Hankins and Becky Lewis and Cousins Butch Moyer, Glen Moyer & Charlie Moyer and many other extended family members. Services will be conducted by the Robertson County Funeral Home with visitation held at the Robertson County Schools Gymnasium in Mt. Olivet, Kentucky on Sunday, February 16th from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM with funeral services immediately following. A masonic service will begin at 2:30 PM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Pallbearers will be Joshua Sato, Kirk Manley, Jacob Manley, Jordan Manley, Butch Moyer, & Kenny Fryman. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Robertson County Schools or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
