Sally Rosenbaum Jones Salem, Virginia Obituary

Sally Rosenbaum Jones

Sally Rosenbaum Jones, age 87, of Roanoke, Virginia, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, February 14, 2020, after an extended illness at Lewis-Gale Hospital. Sally was born September 17, 1932, in Marion, Virginia to the late Roy and Zelphie Barlow Rosenbaum. She spent most of her adult life working in the Hospitality field in housekeeping and laundry. She enjoyed square dancing in her earlier adult years and spent many weekend nights dancing away with beloved family and friends. Sally loved camping and the outdoors and had a niche for crochet and needlework. She created many beautiful gifts over the years. She also had a fondness for teddy bears and cows, but she will be remembered most for the love she had for her family and many friends. Sally was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles “Buck” Clifton Jones, son Kelly Jones, and daughter Darlene Cunningham. Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her daughter, Vickie Barber (Anthony); son, Michael Jones (Michele); and daughter Martha Chambers (Roy); grandchildren, Leslie Urbani Duty, Rusty Barber, Andrea Barber, Jason Barber, Gina Waller, Daisy Jones, Makayla Jones, Kelsey Lenois, Timothy “T.J.” Greenway, and Angela Jordan; step-grandchildren, Karac Johnson, Scarllette Gombash, Charles “Tony” Chambers, William Wesley Chambers, and Rhianna Chambers. Rhianna spent many hours with and caring for Sally over the past year. Thirteen great-grandchildren, thirteen great step-grandchildren, and several loving relatives and friends also survive. The family would like to recognize special friends, Cherry Barton and Terry Delaney. A period of visitation will be held at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home; 305 Roanoke Boulevard Salem, Virginia, on Sunday, February 16, 2020, from 2 until 4 p.m., and again from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services to honor Sally’s life will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020, in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Caleb Christian Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park at 1250 East Main Street Salem, Virginia. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made, in Sally’s memory, to the American Cancer Society.
