Marie Platt
Marie Ley Platt, age 99, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at UMDNJ University Hospital in Newark. Born and raised in Union City, she had lived in Scotch Plains and Point Pleasant before moving to Brick in 1986. Mrs. Platt was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in Bay Head. She was a member of the Elks Women’s Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the Point Pleasant Hospital. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Harold A. (Hal) Platt in 2004 and her son-in-law, Jeffery Shirley. Surviving are her three sons, Gerard Platt and his wife, Barbara of Point Pleasant, NJ, Stephen Platt and his wife, Judith of North Cape May and Richard Platt and his wife, Eileen of Beachwood, NJ; her four daughters, Joan Mazulewicz and her husband, Bernard of Summerville, SC, Diane Platt of Leonardo, NJ, Marilou Platt of Chesterfield, VA and Carolyn Shirley of Lacona, NY; her grandchildren, Eric, Lisa, Michael, Troy, Matthew, John, Jenna and Mia; and her great-grandson, Jackson. A gathering will take place at Sacred Heart RC Church, Bay Head, on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass to be offered 10:30 a.m, followed by the entombment at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
