Obituary
Middlesex-Thelbert Edwards, 82, peacefully passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Johnston County on November 3, 1937, he was the son of the late Emmitt and Elva Godwin Edwards. Thelbert worked in construction for a number of years and later as a correctional officer. He enjoyed operating heavy equipment, being outdoors, and bird hunting. Most important in Thelbert’s life was his family. Thelbert was a member of Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service followed by a service to celebrate his life in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor David West officiating. Interment will follow the service at Moore’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery in Kenly. Thelbert is survived by his wife, Jean Boykin Edwards; children, Danny Edwards (Tammy), Rhonda Worley, and Donna Paul (Michael); a special niece he thought of as a daughter, Erin Parrish; siblings, Rochelle Wall, Janie Gordon, Patsy Johnson, Georgie Edwards, and Bonnie Jo Wall; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two special great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Joseph Worley, Jr. and brother, Kenneth Edwards. Online condolences may be sent to www.kenlyfs.com.
